Upcoming Performances

Orchestra ConcertThe Abbey Gateway Orchestra performs at a variety of venues in the Hertfordshire area, including Harpenden, Wheathampstead and St Albans.

The orchestra can also play pieces on request, and is available for hire at negotiable rates.


Family Concert

At this family concert at St John Fisher Church, the orchestra will be performing a selection of works, including extracts from Beethoven’s Symphony no 5 and the Egmont Overture, Mozart’s Horn Concerto no 1, Massenet’s Thais Meditation and a selection of short compositions which have been written for the orchestra by Charlotte Botterill and our conductor, Martin Beach.

The orchestra will also offer a full accompaniment to two hymns – Lead Kindly Light and Dear Lord and Father of Mankind.

Film Music Day

Using full scores of classic movies, our very own percussionist and part-time conductor, Simon Gargrave, will take us into this magic world. Extra woodwind, brass, percussion and keyboards will be invited along to produce as authentic a performance as possible. We will workshop the music during the afternoon, and there will be a run through for family and friends at the end.

Chamber Music Evening

On this last day of term, we will play through a selection of chamber works, using the orchestra’s store of music, and anything that members of the orchestra want to bring to try out.
